Overview
Skillfully draws and processes blood specimens from inpatients and outpatients as directed to ensure accurate test results. Assigned patient population ranges from neonatal through the geriatric years.
Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent. Formal phlebotomy schooling and/or training, successfully enabling the individual eligible for phlebotomy certification preferred. Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability to work projected schedule, and on occasions work additional hours or shifts. Demonstrates effective communication skills, speaking, hearing, reading and writing. Ability to communicate directly as well as via telephone. Maintains a professional image to instill confidence at all times when interacting with patients, coworkers and customers. Demonstrates patience and tact, respects patient rights, including patient confidentiality. Demonstrates the ability to work efficiently and accurately. Demonstrates the ability to organize and plan work, effectively manages time. Good physical and mental fitness to meet the demands of the job. Constant standing and walking; finger and hand dexterity to handle and manipulate supplies and equipment.
